Boulder County Dental Hygienists' Society
Our Community, Our Profession, Our Peers
Greetings to all
fellow dental hygienists! I would like
to welcome all of you to the events and seminars that will be held this
year. We are changing from the old
schedule of the third Wednesday evening of every month, and hope that our new
schedule better fits yours.
This year, in
addition to continuing education seminars, we would like to reach out to the
community. There will be several
opportunities.
Join us Friday
afternoon, August 25, for a seminar given by Theresa Anselmo and Diane Brunson
from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Clean Water Advocates of Boulder has
succeeded in a petition drive for the November ballot to stop supplementing
fluoride to the drinking water in the City of Boulder. Inform yourself, inform your patients.
October is National
Dental Hygiene Month. Fridays, October 13
and 27 are tentative dates to donate our dental hygiene services to underserved
groups in the community, in cooperation with Dental Aid. BCDHS has also made a
commitment to volunteer at oral health screenings at various locations and
dates throughout the year with Dental Aid.
The first Sunday in
December (3rd), please join us for our annual Holiday Party and
Community Service Project. Dental Aid
will gladly accept old, unused, or new supplies and equipment. EFFA and Safehouse gladly accept oral hygiene
homecare supplies.
Back by popular
demand, Janis Keating will be giving a half-day continuing education on Friday,
April 27, 2007. Her presentation is Oral
Intervention for Infants, Children, and Teens.
Many of you may have
been receiving mailings about Allied Dental Team Membership in the Colorado
Dental Association (CDA). I want each of
you to realize that if the number of dental hygienists with allied membership
in CDA is greater than the number of dental hygienists with membership in
Colorado Dental Hygienists Association (CDHA), then CDA rather than CDHA will
become the official voice of dental hygienists in legislative issues regarding
how YOU practice in the State of Colorado..
I look forward to
serving the members of this Society once again, and hope to see many new faces
at our events!
